My ferret, Pike, had to go to the vet and have surgery early January, and he's still on meds. His vet bills have been adding up, and every commission I take on goes towards helping pay them off.

On the 3rd of January, my ferret, Pike, had to be taken to the vet. It ended up being four crazy days of worry, stress, more worry, and more stress.
Pike had lost over half a pound of weight, was lethargic, and was vomiting. They had to bring him back to some semblance of normal, and had to do surgery. Surgery found that he had an enlarged lobe of his liver, and the veterinarian took a sample to send to biopsy. It won't be for another week or two that we'll get an answer to that.
Thankfully, Pike is doing better. He's home, he's eating ravenously, and he's taking meds twice a day.
Still, with everything, costs have come to $2,571. Most of that is on a credit plan, some of it is loaned from my dad, but all of that has to be paid off.
Now, what I'm doing is offering commissions seriously cheap in order to help pay off the bill. Of course, I know it won't be able to cover it all, but it will help a lot with the monthly payments.
Please, if you can't order something, and I know not everyone can, but if you hear of someone who's looking to commission someone, let them know that I'm open for commissions.

Of course, no holiday in this family is complete without some sort of sadness... the rest of the year is fine, usually, so why the holidays?
Anyways, lots of stuff happening. End of the year. Finals. Blah blah. Hope to have some sketches soon. Right now I need to focus on a 10 page paper...

I fall in love with point-and-click escape the "x" games, especially when the art is nice and the puzzles are challenging... therefore, I was really happy with Crimson Room, Viridian Room, White Chamber, and Blue Chamber.
BUT NOW I've found the ultimate series to fall in love with. Not only does it have intriguing puzzles and wonderful art, it has an impelling storyline as it's backbone, and each "episode" gives you more insight into everything that is going on. It is amazing.
And it is the Submachine Series by Mateusz Skutnik.
It starts out with simple artwork and almost but not quite simple puzzles in Basement (original Submachine), ups both artwork and puzzles in Lighthouse, puts you through a maze of continuity in The Loop (with an awesome beginning, I love the intro), adds more work in The Lab, and currently ends with amazing storytelling and puzzle work in The Root.
I. Was. Floored. I stayed up to 3AM one night doing the first three. I admit, I took my time. The sound/music is awesome, sets the mood quite nicely, and the puzzles make you think. And the storyline? Theories abound, many, many theories abound. I haven't read anything, book or otherwise, that is as compelling as the thoughts behind this story.
So, feel like wasting some time exercising your brain? Go give them a try.... and I recommend the order I presented them in so that you can follow the storyline along.
*can't wait for Submachine 6* :D

We're going to have new kitchen appliances soon. Like, this saturday. Well, the stove and the fridge come this saturday. The dishwasher comes some other day, and I can't wait for it. It'll have a million settings, a sanitary rinse cycle, Turbo drying thingies so you don't have to wipe the dishes off.
The oven is a convection oven! There is a fan! FAN! in the oven! :D And there's a griddle too. SOOOO freaking awesome.
FRIDGE ROCKS. It has a deli sliding shelf. OMG.
Yes... we've been using, like, 20 year old appliances the past 7 years we've been in this house. this is all amazing to me. FINALLY we'll have a fridge and dishwasher that don't piddle all over the floor. And a stove that has burners that ALL WORK.

Maybe its because I'm in Chicago, but this just seems like.. you know, anticlimactic sort of ending. We KNEW this was going to be it. Dammit. We had the party going on in Grant Park, after all. RARG. It was, like, two blocks away from one of my school buildings, and we had to show our ID's to police before we got anywhere near the building because it was technically off-limits area or something like that... x3
But seriously? Can we stop with the "First African American President" suff? Like, before it starts?
I mean, for a country that "prides" itself on being equal and etc, we sure do like to differentiate people a lot. I mean, Come on. It shouldn't matter what color his skin is, he could be orange with purple polka dots and fuzzy green antennae, what should matter is WHO he is. And what he stands for.
And I can't help but get the feeling that part of the reason he won is because people wanted history made.
Can we stop talking the talk and start walking the walk now? Plz?
Because I can't help but feel as if I"m demeaning him by saying he's the first black president. It's like I'm going "OH look at him, he's BLACK but he made it to be a President! Wow! Look what the BLACK man did!"
D'you see what I'm saying? It's like the schools and workplaces that hire blacks, latinos, asians, just so that later they can say "OH YES WE'RE DIVERSE. Look at all the different races we hire! "

My grandma was basically diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimers today. She's going in for an MRI on Friday.
The neurologist says we brought her in in really good time, and they can actually work to keep it from getting worse. If she'd gone in later they'd have problems, and she'd lose stuff quicker.
EDIT: My grandpa has severely blocked arteries around his heart. Thanks. That's awesome...
